ALERT: Help Defeat the Convention of States in Alabama!

The following is regarding Alabama, which has four bills filed on the Convention of States.  They are HJR49, SJR23, SB199, and SB200.

 

SB200 lists the qualifications of a delegate under section 3.  Lobbyists or people required to register as a lobbyist cannot be a delegate.  See Section 3 below.

The following is from SB200 Section 3.  Item 4 below states that a lobbyist or someone required to register as a lobbyist cannot be a delegate.

Section 3. (a) An individual shall satisfy all of
the following to be appointed as a delegate to an Article V
Convention:

Alabama.

(1) The individual must reside in Alabama.
(2) The individual must be a registered voter in
(3) The individual must be at least 18 years of age.
(4) The individual is not registered or required to
be registered as a lobbyist under Section 36-25-18, Code of
Alabama 1975, 2 U.S.C. § 1603, or rules or regulations adopted
under either of these laws.
          (b) An individual may not be appointed as a delegate
if he or she holds a federal office.
          (c) An individual appointed as an alternate delegate
must have the same qualifications as an individual appointed
as a delegate under subsection (a).
