Carroll-Boone Water District (CBWD) Water Operators Speak Out Against Non-compliance of a Regulated Chemical

Who’s Regulating the Regulators?
Written by Rene Fonseca,
Carroll-Boone Water District

In 2011, the Arkansas State Legislature very quickly passed a partially unfunded mandate that requires most water companies to add fluoride chemicals into public water supplies, not to purify the water but to medicate you. State legislators were lobbied by outsiders, and few Arkansas residents who oppose fluoridation were alerted. Water suppliers weren’t involved. So now there are many problems arising from this ill-advised fluoridation mandate including that fluoridation chemicals are not pure.

Troubling New Animal Welfare Act Proposals

Now It’s the Feds’ Turn
by Sara Chisnell-Voigt, UKC Legal Counsel

Last month, I revisited the state “puppy mill” bill issue as it was rearing its ugly head here in Michigan once again. That apparently was a foreshadowing of what was to come at the Federal level. Some very significant and disturbing changes have been proposed to the Animal Welfare Act that could negatively impact not only breeders but rescues alike! In this column I will go over those changes and contact info for comments as I urge each and every one of you to have your voice heard on this issue.

2012 AFL-CIO Political Endorsements

Click here for some info from the Arkansas AFL-CIO concerning their endorsements. This may help you decide who you want to vote for or against. When asked, they say they cannot publish an endorsement without permission of the candidate.

Perry County, AR ALERT

Request from Connie Burks of Harrison and concerned citizens of Perry County – URGENT:

Seven years ago, ANRC and ADEQ almost persuaded Gov. Huckabee to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (Watershed Pact) with the Missouri governor, which would have given undue power of bureaucratic agencies over the state legislature and county and municipal governments. Public pressure caused him to withdraw from signing.

Now, a Perry County Quorum Court meeting is scheduled forMonday, May 14, 2012, to vote on incorporating a county Watershed District.

Please Sound the Alarm

David Gearhart, Chancellor for the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville, has invited legislators to hear 5 illegal aliens speak at a panel discussion on Monday, April 23, 2012, 7:30 p.m., at the Fayetteville Town Center. The subject of the panel is, “Undocumented: Living in the Shadows.”

This is a direct violation of U.S. Statute 8 USC, Section 1324a, which states “…any person who knowingly hires, harbors or transports any illegal alien is guilty of a felony punishable to 10 years jail plus $2000 fine per illegal alien.”

Gearhart knows he is promoting lawlessness as illustrated by this quote in his invitation: “Two panelists are university students who grew up in Arkansas. The other three panelists grew up in Massachusetts, New York and Virginia, respectively. Their undocumented immigration status makes travel within the U.S. difficult and risky and their ability to work legally impossible. They are taking a significant risk by making themselves so publicly visible.”
