The House Natural Resources Committee will hold a field hearing in West Plains, MO
WASHINGTON, D.C. – On Monday, July 29, 2013, the House Natural Resources Subcommittee on Water and Power will hold an oversight field hearing in West Plains, Missouri titled “Stopping Federal Land and Water Grabs: Protecting Property Rights from Washington, DC Edicts.”
The field hearing was requested by Congressman Billy Long (MO-7) and Congressman Jason Smith (MO-8). The hearing will examine the National Blueways Secretarial Order that was signed by Secretary Salazar in 2012. Congressmen Long and Smith will be joined by Congressman Rick Crawford (AR-1) and Congressman Tom McClintock (CA-4), chairman of the Natural Resources Subcommittee on Water and Power.
WHO: The West Plains Field Hearing is open to the public on a first come, first serve seating basis. People who want to submit written comments for the record are encouraged to do so.
WHAT: Subcommittee on Water and Power Oversight Hearing on the National Blueways Order, Property Rights.
WHERE: Theater of the West Plains Civic Center, 110 Saint Louis St. in West Plains, Missouri.
WHEN: Monday, July 29, 2013 at 1:00 p.m.
This hearing will focus on the implementation of the Blueways Order on the White River in Missouri and Arkansas and future protection of private property rights. Although the Obama administration recently announced that it was withdrawing the National Blueways Designation for the White River watershed in response to local opposition, this hearing will explore how rivers and watersheds could still be impacted by this misguided policy, as well as similar policies.
