On the heels of the defunct Blueway, Secure Arkansas has just learned that there could be a meeting tomorrow, Wednesday January 15th, between the US Fish and Wildlife Service and our Arkansas Congressional Delegation. If this meeting does in fact take place, the US Fish and Wildlife Service will supposedly present their recommendations as to why this White River Land Acquisition would be justified. And according to their own press release, “if approved, ‘The Service‘ will draw funding from the Migratory Bird Conservation Fund and the Land and Water Conservation Fund”.
According to the press release from US Fish & Wildlife Service last year (
click here) this land acquisition for the White River Wildlife Refuge would expand by 125,349 acres. Affected counties in Arkansas: Desha, Monroe, Phillips and Arkansas. In Mississippi: Boliver County.
Is the White River Land Acquisition an ongoing effort even though the Blueway is now defunct?
Please help keep this White River Land Acquisition from happening! Hurry! Oppose the expansion by e-mailing tonight or calling in the morning (a few phone calls simply will not do).
