Misinformed Legislators Pass Unfunded Mandate That Can Jeopardize Animals, Tourism and the Poultry Industry

Most folks in Arkansas cherish our animals, whether it be for food, income, or, best of all, as companions. Secure Arkansas believes that we have a right to know what will affect our health as well as what will affect the health of our pets and our livelihoods. In 2011, Mike Beebe, Governor of Arkansas, signed a bill into law that requires all districts providing water for over 5000 people to add hydrofluosilicic acid to their water supply. The water fluoridation mandate bill was rushed through the House and Senate in less than 7 working days – hardly enough time to hear from all the citizens in Arkansas that actually voted against adding a known toxic substance to our water.

Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) Action Alert

An organization was established in 1954 to provide care for dogs and cats. This organization is known as The Humane Society of the United States. As with everything, it seems, change has been going on unbeknownst to us. They started out as an animal welfare group and have switched to an animal rights group.

SB247: To Make Corrections To Title 5 Of The Arkansas Code, 1987

SB 247 is another attempt by our government to attach amendments to a bill and get it passed without our knowledge. Sections 12 and 13 of this bill have to do with animal cruelty and not with other crimes.

SB247: The Arkansas Code of 1987 Concerning Criminal Offense

In an attempt to make an already badly flawed law, even worse, we strongly recommend that you contact your Arkansas State Representative to tell them to watch SB 247 and delete Sections 12 & 13 from that bill.
