As long rumored they would, in cooperation with pro-amnesty groups, the Obama administration has gone around Congress and arbitrarily issued a new deportation policy for illegal aliens.
Department of Homeland Security will now review the list of illegal aliens to be deported on a case-by-case basis. Those illegal aliens on the list, approximately 300,000, can now apply for work permits and stay in this country, allowing them to compete with more than 22 million Americans looking for full-time work. According to the Wall Street Journal, that’s 300,000 illegal aliens who could potentially receive work permits! The only ones that will be deported will be the ones that have committed a crime that could threaten national security or public safety. Letting them go free will allow them to sneak back in and commit some more crimes.
Following is a quote from an article from today’s Arkansas Democrat-Gazette:
“They have created a working group that appears to have the specific purpose of overruling, on a ‘case-by-case’ basis, an immigration court’s final order of removal, or preventing that court from even issuing such an order,” House Judiciary Committee Chairman Lamar Smith, R-Texas, said in a statement. “The Obama administration should enforce immigration laws, not look for ways to ignore them. The Obama administration should not pick and choose which laws to enforce. Administration officials should remember the oath of office they took to uphold the Constitution and the laws of the land.”
Here are some examples of federal laws already on our books that need to be enforced:
8 US Code – Section 1324: Bringing in and harboring certain aliens
8 US Code – Section 1325: Improper entry by alien
8 US Code – Section 1621: Aliens who are not qualified aliens or nonimmigrants ineligible for State and local public benefits (Including post-secondary education)
Bypassing congress is a violation of the spirit of the Constitution. The U. S. Constitution says the American public is to dictate immigration policy through their congressional representatives. Comprehensive immigration reform, another word for amnesty, has been defeated many, many times in congress over this past decade. These votes of congress and every vote cast by Americans have been nullified by Obama’s actions, and the US Constitution has been bypassed. This is telling the world that if you want to come to America, just jump the fence, come one, come all, nothing will be done. This is the fall of our Republic.
