*** Senators, PLEASE Vote NO on Senate Bills SJR 2 and SJR 8 ***

You have lost control of the entire Senate and given in to corporate interests!

Our legislators are restructuring our Arkansas State Constitution and the U.S. Constitution!

SJR 2 and SJR 8  will be coming up in the FULL Arkansas Senate on Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at 1:30 p.m. This is the second time that SJR 2 is coming up for a vote in the Senate.

  • SJR 2 APPLYING TO THE UNITED STATES CONGRESS TO CALL A CONVENTION FOR PROPOSING AMENDMENTS PURSUANT TO ARTICLE V OF THE UNITED STATES CONSTITUTION.

ALEC Member, Senator Gary Stubblefield – Sponsor – 479-635-4314, [email protected]gov

ALEC stands for American Legislative Exchange Council, a corporate bill mill that writes much of the legislation presented and passed in the Arkansas General Assembly.  ALEC represents corporate interests and NOT We the People.

For some background information, see Secure Arkansas past article:  “Warning 2nd Amendment in Danger? Part 2 Disturbing Radical Agenda Behind Article’ V Amendment Convention (Con-Con)”

One of our Secure Arkansas readers, Joyce, wrote in to say, “The idea of a Constitutional Convention called by ALEC influenced states is the most dangerous idea around.  I realize that everyone isn't a constitutional scholar or a policy wonk, but we need to educate ourselves about the coup that is being considered that could leave the people who have run up the debt in the clear and left on the backs of all taxpayers.”

If SJR 2 passes, this will be applying for Congress to call a Constitutional Convention WHICH WOULD BE A TOTAL DISASTER FOR AMERICA!

  • SJR 8 A CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT LIMITING CONTINGENCY FEES AND AWARDS OF PUNITIVE AND NON-ECONOMIC DAMAGES; AND CHANGING THE POWERS OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY AND THE SUPREME COURT REGARDING RULES OF PLEADING, PRACTICE, AND PROCEDURE.

ALEC Member, Senator Missy Irvin, Sponsor —  870-740-9694 (cell) or 870-269-2703 (home) [email protected]

See Secure Arkansas’ past article on SJR 8:  “Tort Reform or Tort Control? Vote NO on SJR 8”

Here are attorney Joey McCutchen’s Facebook comments about what Rep. Josh Miller had to say in the House during discussion about SJR 8:

Another hero standing up for our RIGHTS at the legislature against SJR 8 was Representative Josh Miller, who is paralyzed. He understands that putting a one-size-fits-all $500,000 cap is not only anti-Bill of Rights but will reward irresponsible behavior and encourage reckless behavior in Arkansas. Please take the time to listen to Rep Miller who places people over Walmart's and Michael Morton's profits.

Secure Arkansas GREATLY appreciates Representative Miller standing against SJR 8.

If SJR 8 (Tort Control) passes, it will be on the 2018 Ballot, so we need to stop it in the Senate!

ACTION:  Call and email the Senators listed below, and tell them to VOTE NO on SJR 2 and SJR 8 which are coming up in the FULL Arkansas Senate on Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at 1:30 p.m.
