March 8, 2017 Article V Amendment Convention, Constitutional Convention, Featured

*** VOTE NO on SJR 7 and SJR 9 ***

Senator Jason Rapert’s two Article V Constitutional Convention (Con Con) bills SJR 7 and SJR 9 are listed on the House State Agencies and Governmental Affairs committee agenda once again tomorrow — March 8, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. in Room 151 at the Arkansas Capitol.

Special Note: The Arkansas Legislature is at the end of the 2017 session, so there will be no regular schedule to follow.  Things pop up on a daily basis, and – in a sense – we are flying blind. No more bills can be filed, BUT legislation can be brought back to the House and/or Senate floor or committees for legislators to vote. Stay vigilant, folks!

We know you’re tired of seeing emails about some of these bills, BUT this is how they play games at the Capitol.

Remember, a lot of corporate money has been poured into this state to get these Con Con bills passed, but they must be stopped.

REPRESENTATIVES: VOTE NO on SJR 7 and SJR 9 because they would radically transform our constitution and fundamentally change our country.

SJR 7 and SJR 9 are NOT about “marriage” or “right to life”. These bills are about applying for convention.

PLEASE NOTE:  There are NO RULES in the U.S. Constitution or in any law to limit a Con-Con’s:

  • Purpose
  • Procedure
  • Agenda
  • Election of delegates, or
  • The subject matter!

Congress has repeatedly rejected ALL bills to establish rules or procedures, so one cannot control a Constitutional Convention or an Article V convention in advance!

Don’t be fooled by the disinformation being promoted by American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC), Convention of States (COS), and Wolf PAC.

These organizations are stating that the state legislators are in control of an Article V Convention (Con-Con). Not true, folks!  All the states can do is apply for a convention. Congress will take control after the states apply for a convention. [See U.S. Constitution Article_V and Article 1, Section 8, Clause 18 (last clause).]

Article 1, Section 8, Clause 18:

“To make all Laws which shall be necessary and proper for carrying into Execution the foregoing Powers, and all other Powers vested by this Constitution in the Government of the United States, or in any Department or Officer thereof.”

We Have Been Infiltrated by Wolves in Sheep’s Clothing…

WHAT YOU CAN DO ABOUT IT:   Contact the members of the House State Agencies and Governmental Affairs committee ASAP before their meeting on March 8, 2017's 10:00 a.m., and tell them to VOTE NO on SJR 7 and SJR 9 because they’re bad bills!  We don’t want a Con Con to result, and we don’t want a runaway convention. Don’t put our children’s and grandchildren’s future at risk!
