Last week we sent out a copy of a letter from Republican Charlie Collins of Fayetteville to the Board of Apportionment that began with this sentence: “We are writing to express our support for creating a Hispanic majority House district in Northwest Arkansas.”
HB 1292 the Illegal Alien Bill sponsored by House Rep. Jon Hubbard failed to get out of committee on February 23, 2010. The House State Agencies and Governmental Affairs Committee voted 8 “for” and 9 “against” the bill, right down party lines.
Committee action on HB 1292, “To Prohibit Illegal Aliens From Receiving Any State Benefit Except In Instances Of Emergency Or When Life-Saving Measures Are Required,” will be voted on February 23, at 10 a.m., in the House State Agencies and Governmental Affairs Committee, Room 151. This is the committee we must focus on for now.
