Last week we sent out a copy of a letter from Republican Charlie Collins of Fayetteville to the Board of Apportionment that began with this sentence: “We are writing to express our support for creating a Hispanic majority House district in Northwest Arkansas.”
HB 1292 the Illegal Alien Bill sponsored by House Rep. Jon Hubbard failed to get out of committee on February 23, 2010. The House State Agencies and Governmental Affairs Committee voted 8 “for” and 9 “against” the bill, right down party lines.
HB 1292 “An Act to Set the Requirements to Receive State Benefits” is set to go before Committee this morning. We still need a few more yes votes to get this passed through to the House floor. If you would like to see the action live, please follow the link below to the live video feed.
It’s working! Keep pouring on the pressure! The legislators say they can’t believe how many emails and phone calls they are getting about HB1292. They vote tomorrow so this is our last chance to make a difference. The switchboard is jammed and we want to keep it that way.
Committee action on HB 1292, “To Prohibit Illegal Aliens From Receiving Any State Benefit Except In Instances Of Emergency Or When Life-Saving Measures Are Required,” will be voted on February 23, at 10 a.m., in the House State Agencies and Governmental Affairs Committee, Room 151. This is the committee we must focus on for now.
