The FOIA Transparency Petition Circulation is Drawing to a Close…
Petitions must be turned in and collected BEFORE July 5th! That process starts the first of July 2024.
Click here for the petition hub locations by county. Please sign both petitions there (the Act AND the Amendment) and/or take some petitions with you. Someone there can answer your questions and also give you helpful pointers to gather signatures.
After you pick up some petitions, head off to some fun festivals, fairs, or special events to gather signatures.

Once again, it’s imperative that we keep our Sunshine Laws intact to maintain transparency in government, which helps prevent fraud and corruption!
Without YOUR help, we will see our Freedom of Information dwindle, and so will the public’s access to government records at state and local levels. All levels of our government should be made to operate transparently, and it’s up to us to see that our access to information is NOT closed off or blocked. We have the right to know!
So, how could our FOIA dwindle? The governor could carve out a specific exception to the public records and government in our Sunshine Laws. We saw this in the previous 2023 legislative session when new laws allowed more secrecy in searches that took the governor’s travel records out of public view.
We, the people, need access to public meetings and public records, and that should include the governor’s office. Our Arkansas Freedom of Information Act/ FOIA is meant to protect our right to know and provide for the release of information such as this — it’s the KEY that keeps things open, and we need to protect AND strengthen it.
You shouldn’t need an attorney, a government contract, or a press pass to get access to government records!
Please take action to sign the petitions that can be found at many newspaper offices around the state. Also, chances are that someone in your church or in your neighborhood may be carrying the petitions, too, as well as on your job site. Many retail or business offices around the state are making the FOIA petitions available for you to come in and sign as well.
But, if you are still looking for a way to find the petitions to sign, look no further. We will be glad to help you. Please, just contact us, and we will see that you have the opportunity to sign the FOIA/ transparency petitions: info@securetherepublic.com
In closing, PLEASE pick up some petitions and distribute them. Also, have your family, friends, and co-workers sign them. (There are 2 FOIA petitions: have them sign the Amendment AND the Act.) Many of us can have 10 people sign. Then, have them notarized and turn them in where you got them, such as at a petition hub.
